CHILLOUT FESTIVAL 2023
This year I'm celebrating 10 years performing at Chillout!
From humble beginnings in 1997, ChillOut Festival has grown to become Australia’s largest Queer Country Pride festival, and is recognised as a culturally important and nationally celebrated LGBTIQ pride event, supporting and representing Queer pride for all regional people.
When it began, the festival was an opportunity for the queer community to come and visit Australia's premier spa country (the Hepburn Shire) after the huge celebrations of Mardi Gras in Sydney - now, 26 years on it is so much more.
I love Chillout, in fact ever year I rebook my accomodation for the next as I'm leaving town. There's so many wonderful events that celebrate pride in a relaxed and fabulous way that is unique to the area, and I am looking forward to celebrating my 10th Anniversary performing in the festival with you all - because this year I'm not just performing, I'm an ambassador as well.
2013 was the very first time I performed as a part of the festival as a guest of Dolly Diamond in one of her shows, and for many years later you'd catch me running up and down the main strip performing various shows (sometimes in drag sometimes not) back-to-back, snapping snaps of all the action and dancing with you all, plus hosting the famed opening parties at the Glenlyon Estate.
But in 2023, I'm excited to be wearing a different hat (or wig) when I come to Daylesford , and that is as an ambassador for ChillOut Festival 2023 - Find Your Wings, celebrating a festival I love continuing to be a part of year after year.
Don't worry, I'll still be performing and singing up a storm over the weekend, this just means my dance card will be a little fuller, and I'll need a bigger wardrobe, cos there's no way I will let Frock Hudson outshine me when it comes to costume changes.
So see you all at Chillout, 9-13th March, the program is so very exciting!
